Blogging Block, Book Update and January Resolutions

It's been rather quiet on the blog recently. I've been meaning to write this post all week but it's taken me ages to actually get around to it. I'm not entirely sure why, but I would say it's something rather like writers block. Let's call it blogging block... pretty much the same thing.

Over the past few years there has been more and more pressure on bloggers to upload daily, but over the past couple of weeks I haven't really had much to share with you all on here. Between my YouTube beauty videos, daily vlogging in December, Instagram and Twitter, I've already been sharing most of my life. Top that off with writing a book, and it equals very limited time and content for blog posts. I'm really sorry for that, but it's set to change soon as I'm super happy to say that I've finally finished off writing my book (save a couple of proof-reads!)

It's been quite an interesting process for me to say the least. When I first went in for a meeting with my publishers, Headline, I told them I was determined to write the book myself and not to use a ghostwriter. Partly because I quite fancied the challenge, and also because I wanted to be able to put something out that was truly mine, written for you. The following couple of months have been pretty hectic. I've actually really enjoyed the process but it's been a very tight deadline so there have been many late nights and early mornings. In case you haven't seen my latest video, or Instagram posts, this week we confirmed the final cover for the book. We actually went back and forth quite a bit making sure we got it just right, and I'm so happy with the results.

The design of the inside is equally as gorgeous and I'm so excited to finally be able to share it with you all on February 12th. I'm going to be doing a few book signings around the country too, and I'll let you know the details of those as soon as I do! I'm working on getting to see as many of you as I can, but we obviously have to have the resources available in the shops to be able to host events. I think that's the part about releasing a book I'm most excited about, getting to meet you and see your reactions to it! That, and going into a real book shop and buying a real copy of my (real!) book!

On another note (seeing as we are having a bit of a catch-up!) I've also been having a bit of a January detox this week. I haven't made a New Year's Resolutions video this year (I did last year, but I'm not sure it would be too different from that one, when looking at the entire year!) but I have set some specific goals for January. I feel like January is the first step. If I can make it through January sticking to my goals, then I'll re-assess what is realistic for the whole of 2015!

Firstly I'm not drinking (nope, I'm not pregnant, totally not ready for that yet!) I did dry January last year and felt really good for it so I've decided to do it again this year. I've also been juicing every morning (usually a combination of apple, celery, cucumber, spinach, mint and occasionally beetroot or courgette too) I've been in to juicing for ages, but I don't usually do it daily because of the clean up effort it requires. After a week of having a green juice daily though, I think I'm converted. I feel amazing and full of energy - cleaning the juicer is definitely worth it! My third 'January resolution' is to work out every week day. For me this is a lot more than normal (usually I work out 2 times per week, 3 maximum) I've stuck to it so far and I have to say I've really been enjoying it. I'm going to do a video on my routine and a little fitness haul on my YouTube channel soon as I want to talk about that in more detail, but in general, I'm loving it and I can already feel the difference in how I feel, and my energy and fitness levels. January can be such a down and depressing month, I'm determined to kick it in the ass and get myself ready for the book launch in February.

So there are my updates! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! What are your resolutions for the year? Are you sticking to them so far?!

My book is also up for pre-order already, so if you're feeling super-duper keen, you can order it here :)

Aussie Misstache Competition WINNER!

Today I wanted to do a quick blogpost to wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and also to announce the winner of an exciting giveaway I hosted with Aussie during November.
If you missed my video you can check it out above, but basically, to celebrate the fact that Aussie joined forces with Movember this year as their first ever female sponsor to raise awareness for men's health, they decided to give away an amazing, all expenses paid, trip to Australia in 2015!

We asked you all to post a snap of your best 'Misstache' to the Aussie Facebook page to be in with a chance of winning and a couple of weeks ago, I popped into Aussie HQ to pick the winning 'tache! The winning snap came from Amy Anderson with her festive santa-themed #Misstache! A MASSIVE congrats to Amy, I hope you have a wonderful trip!

And a very Merry Christmas to each and every one of you!

My Little Box Collaboration!

I've had to keep this little secret for a few months now, but I can finally let the cat out of the bag box and show you this adorable collaboration I've done with My Little Box for their December edition!

I know I'm a little biased, but I have to say I think this is the best box so far, especially for those of you who love to get a little creative with your Christmas wrapping, as it comes with gift tags, string and patterned tape for customising your gifts!

There's also a cute little knitted headband to keep your ears warm in the frosty mornings, a mini cowshed body lotion, L'occitane face cream and My Little Box's own staple red lipstick.
I've been a fan of the My Little Box subscription service since it launched in the UK a few months back, so I jumped at the chance to collaborate with them. I popped over to Paris for the day to meet the team and shoot the cover picture (which I think turned out really nicely!) I also did a special little DIY feature for the mag, which I was really happy with. If you're already subscribed to My Little Box, then I hope you enjoy this collaboration. If not, you can find out more about them on their website here

Aromatherapy Associates Christmas Collection - 12 Days of Gifting

Today is the last instalment of my 12 Days of Gifting series, but that means it's only 12 days till Christmas (Woohoo!) If you're still finishing off your Christmas shopping, then it's worth taking a look at Aromatherapy Associates' offerings.
Every year they bring out the most gorgeous sets of bath oils...
I got one a couple of years back and it lasted me all year! This year I'll be getting one for my sister, as she loves them too and they are great for helping her to relax and take time out from her busy schedule!

This year their Christmas offerings are all housed in beautiful teal packaging. My top picks are the Ultimate Bath Jewels set, a selection of 10 different oils in a miniature chest of drawers, including my personal favourite Relax Deep blend. While the bottles don't look very big, each will last you about 4 baths. The set is £55 and available from SpaceNK online. If you've never tried Aromatherapy Associates bath oils, you have to change that in the new year, they are utterly fabulous!
My other pick from their Christmas collection is the the 'Joy' three wick candle. It's a combination of rose and ginger and is seriously lovely. It's expensive at £45 but will burn for 42 hours. This is also available online via SpaceNK.

YSL Christmas Collection - 12 Days of Gifting

Today's 12 Days of Gifting post is probably the most luxurious of them all. YSL have released a collection that will be every leopard-print-lover's dream this Christmas! It's made up of the Wild Edition face palette, limited edition leopard print Touche Eclat and a limited edition shade of Glossy Stain.
The palette is covered in leather, with an elasticated closure like a little notebook, topped off with a little black tassel. Inside are four shimmery shades of eyeshadow, a blush, two lip glosses and three little applicators for each. The shades are really wearable, but have a definite Christmas party feel to them.

The Touche Eclat is in the original shade and the Glossy Stain is a beautiful, bold red. Each would make a gorgeous gift on it's own, or all three together would be a truly luxurious present.
The collection is available now, from Boots online or YSL counters nationwide. The palette is £69 and the Touche Eclat and Glossy Stain are £25 each.

Tangle Teezer Metallic - 12 Days of Gifting

I spotted this little gem while queueing up to pay in Urban Outfitters the other day. I've used a Tangle Teezer for ages and really like them for limiting damage to my hair when brushing. I've got a full sized one and I've seen the miniatures before, but never been convinced to splash out on one until I saw this.
It has a pretty metallic finish with a clip-in lid to cover the bristles in your bag, so it's perfect for on the go...
It's also wrapped up like a cute little Christmas cracker, so perfect as a stocking filler!
It will set you back £13 and is available online from Feelunique.com

Guest Review! Philips Lumea Hair Removal System (sp)

Today I've got a guest post from my best friend Lissie for you all! Philips approached me a few months ago and asked if I would be interested in reviewing their Lumea hair removal system. Having known Lissie wanted to try out an IPL system for ages, I asked if she'd like to take it on a test run for me. Here are her thoughts...
When Fleur initially approached me to try the Philip’s Lumea Precision Plus I positively jumped at the opportunity. Since around the age of around 14, I have tried endless ways under the sun attempting to remove unwanted body hair. This ranges from foul-smelling hair removal creams, to unbearable waxing and the both painful and time consuming epilating. And still, 12 years later, I search for that elusive, cure-all solution that is both pain-free and effective...

In Philips Lumea Precision Plus I think I’ve found that magic combination. Its ease of use, creating real results and most of all the fact that it is pain free (for me!), has now made this my go-to product for depilation. Having used it regularly for the last 3 months I cannot recommend it highly enough.
When it first arrived I was initially impressed with how it looked. It has a sleek design to it and is also lightweight, making it really easy to use. Additionally, it also came with a small case for it to sit snugly into, so you are not heaving a large box around with it, either for storage or travelling.

The product works by applying gentle pulses of light to the hair and the hair root, just underneath the skin. As a result of this, hair will shed from the skin naturally and it also prevents regrowth. You need to shave the desired area first (be it leg, armpit, bikini line etc.) and then consult the skin tone graph as to what light pulse intensity would be suitable for you. With fairly dark hair, and somewhat pale skin, I chose the second highest setting of ‘4’. You then need to decide which attachment is appropriate for the area that you are depilating. The one I use the most is the ‘body’ attachment, especially suitable for legs, however there is also a ‘face’ attachment, a smaller piece with an extra integrated light filter, suitable for sensitive areas and also hard-to-reach places, such as armpits.
You then place the Precision Plus at a 90° angle to your skin, and when all contacts are touching the skin, a green flash light shows that you can start the process. This is when you chose to use either the ‘Slide & Flash’ mode, especially useful for legs, where you can do long strokes, with the product pulsating light at regular intervals, or the ‘Step & Flash’ mode, where you place the product precisely where you want it to flash, useful for awkward areas, such as the knees. Whilst it did take me a couple of minutes to get used to the product, ensuring I did not overlap areas that had already been flashed, I quickly became used to it, and realised how quickly this can be done. Within about 10 minutes I had done my lower leg. Within half an hour I had completely finished.

I will happily admit that I was more than slightly sceptic as to how effective this would be. However after only one use, I already could see the result on my legs, where the hair took longer to grow back and was thinner than previously. Having now used it for the past few months, repeating the process once every 3 to 4 weeks, I can now really see the difference this has made on all the different areas I used this.  My underarm hair is not as coarse as it once was, and my legs need far less maintenance than they used to, something I am definitely looking forward to come summer. If you are after a pain free hair removal product that shows results after consistent use, this is the one for you, I really cannot recommend it highly enough.
